silence of the lambs movie poster

this is a movie poster that was created to advertise the horror film silence of the lambs.the audience who see this poster will recognise that this is a horror movie poster because of the use of red eyes on the face in the picture. red eyes oftern depict evil or a bad person in a movie. the extremely white face makes the audience think of ghosts or death. ghosts and death are two main conventions of horror films. in the center of the image we can also see a large moth over the mouth of the face in the picture this links clossely to the name of the film because of the word "silence." the moth in the picture is covering the mouth of the face to represent that the character can not talk. the moth in the image is also not very bright cheery colours, instead it is many differant shades of brown and white. this indecates that the moth is not as beautiful on the outside or the inside.

the moth is a key part of the movie poster because of the symbal on the moths back. a lot of beople think that the image represents a skull because it is white in colour and if you lokk closely you can see eye wholes and a mouth with teeth in the image. skulls are closely link to death which is a convention of horror films. some people annitate the image differantly and think that there are seven naked people in the tiny image on the moths back . naked people would represent sex and impuritys. explicit sex is related to satan. satan and evilness is a convention of horror films

the name of the films written along the bottem of the poster in orange which makes it easier for the audience to see because it contrasts with the dark background.

camera rules

180 rules: the 180 rule is a rule that basically draws an imaginary line in which the camera man can stand to make the conversation more realistic because we will always see only one side of the characters faces so it won’t look like they are talking to themselves

30 degree rule: this means that the cameraman can only cut from one shot to another shot if the two characters are 30 degrees apart, or the audience are reminded that they are watching something that is fiction and won’t be able to believe that they are watching a real conversation

we can see the 180 rule being used here in the shining. the camera is always on the right hand side of the charicter with there back faced to the camera

in this video we can see the 30 degree rule being used.

horror conventions

these are some of the conventions i could think of that directers and producers use in horror films for effect and to let the audience know that they are watching a horror film

toms action run

Yesterday tom and Sam and i filmed a clip called toms action run.in this clip we used a lot of different camera angles such as high angle shot, longshot  and a close up we used the many shots together to make the effect that it was the beginning of an action film.

Using adobe premiere elements we cut the end and start off of a lot of the scenes clips we filmed because the footage didn’t fit together properly e.g. there was a clip of tom running and then we switched angle and we had to wait 3 seconds before we sore tom running at the other angle,so got rid of the 3 seconds of waiting so the clips worked with each other

we still need to edit the clip thurther by adding a title screen and translations
